Antique Victorian Framed Stevengraph : "The Present Time 60 miles an hour" : STG 195  
 
 
A good Late 19th Century Antique Victorian Framed Stevengraph "The Present Time 60 miles an hour", in Average / Fine condition, the colours still fresh. Mounted on original printed card mount within a simple glazed gilt frame, the reverse with old Picture Frame Maker's label of Edwin C. Wynne of 253, Borough Road, Birkenhead. According to Austin Sprake's "Price Guide to Stevengraphs", { A.C.C. 1972 }, of the four known versions of this silk picture, this, the two and a half carriage version is the rarest, meriting a rating of 4* in that seminal work. Frame size : 8.00 inches x 11.50 inches. Year : Circa 1880. Ref. AVFSSTG195. SOLD.

A large and sparkling botanical oil on canvas, "June Bouquet", signed Phyllis Morgans R.G.I., undated but presented here in it's original frame, measuring 31.15 inches x 27.15 inches, the canvas measuring 26.15 inches x 22.00 inches, the title on the reverse on two printed tickets. Phyllis Morgans R.G.I. { Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Art } Obit. 2001, painted mainly in oils and sold many of her paintings at Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds. She was made an Honorary Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers, and her work is well represented in both private and public collections, including that of the Library of Congress, Washington D.C. Year : Circa 1975. Presented here mounted and suitably framed in a period style modern moulded giltwood frame. Thomas Rowlandson's mildly erotic work has proved perennially popular, and has, as a result been widely copied down the years. A good, decorative item. Ref. Antique Ceremonial Sash : The Order of Druids

  

 

 

A fine clean Late 19th / Early 20th Century Antique Ceremonial Sash forming part of the regalia of The Order of Druids. The body of the sash of cotton woven with red and white stripes upon a blue ground, measuring 6.00 inches in width and 92.00 inches in length with an additional 4.00 inch fringe of silver thread at each end. Appended to this is a silk panel measuring 7.00 inches x 5.00 inches depicting the arms of the order with title and the motto, "Integritas Pro Rupe Nobis" within a border of gold thread, together with the silver and gilt metal jewel of the order bearing upon the obverse the words, "THE ORDER OF DRUIDS", and upon the reverse the name and address of the Maker, viz. An engaging study of light and shade in this fine Late 20th Century Oil Painting on canvas by David Green, R.O.I. Elected to the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1992, the artist has exhibited widely and his work is well represented in both public and private collections around the world. Original frame measuring 23.25 in. x 19.25 in. overall, canvas measuring 20.00 inches  x 16 inches. and stamped HOLBEIN within red oval and numeral 2 on reverse. Picture signed but undated in the bottom left hand corner, DAVID GREEN. Roughly pencilled title "Venice" over artist's stamp on rear edge of canvas. Reminiscent of Monet's famous painting "Le Palais de Mula", painted in Venice in 1908, which may perhaps have provided the inspration for this fine work.
